The 2017/18 season has been a fantastic one for our U15’s, with a fantastic win ratio and silverware thrown in!

The team completed the season with a squad of 19 which at U15 level is a small squad compared to most if not all of the teams they came up against.

After an opening game defeat away to Leigh the team went on a fantastic run of 7 games unbeaten. Notable wins within those 7 games came against local rivals Ormskirk and a strong Orrell side as well wins in the cup competitions against Didsbury and West Park.

Orrell brought the winning run to an end in one of the cups but the team went on another excellent run with some outstanding results which included a 53-5 win against rivals Southport and a  34-29 win in a fiercely contested local derby against a large Preston Grasshoppers squad at Hoppers!

Despite defeat to Rochdale seeing the team knocked out of the last of the cup competitions the lads finished the regular season strongly winning their last 3 games emphatically,

Following the regular season the team entered the Heaton Moore 7s Tournament. the pool stages saw the lads facing some tough opposition but they ended with 4 wins out of six only defeated by Heaton Moore Red and Heaton Moore Black.

The excellent pool stage results meant lads qualified for the plate final where they would be up against Heaton Moore Black who had been victorious in their final pool game against TRUFC…………but that wasn’t to be the case in the final!

In the final the team showcased their skills and teamwork and put in an outstanding performance  with some excellent running rugby seeing them win the final 34-0!

The lads brought their season as U15’s to a close by taking their annual tour. this years destination was Yorkshire where they were hosted by Sandal U15s and came out on top by ONE point winning the match 22-21!

With such a small squad this group of players, have shown their quality and determination all season and have been a credit to the club. They are proof that the future at TRUFC is a very bright one……bring on U16’s

A special mention also needs to go to the coaching team and the team manager who have done an outstanding job this season with a great group of lads well done everybody!
