TRUFC SENIOR COLTS (17/18) FINAL GAME

This week sees our current crop of Senior Colts play their last game together in age group rugby before transitioning to Senior Rugby!

It will be an emotional day for the players, parents, coaches and most of all Team Manager Janet Jones.

Janet has been involved with this group of lads since they were Under 7s and has seen them go from young boys learning the game to young men winning titles!

As with every club this team has had their share of ups and downs over the years and particularly this year were an extensive number of injuries has hit the squad hard in the second half of the season. But one thing can be said for this squad and that is that they never give up!

This Season has been a big final test for the squad who were entered into Preliminary League E for the first part of the season. Testing themselves against Wigan, Whitchurch, Rossendale, Broughton Park, Sedgley Park and Fleetwood the lads rose to the challenge finishing with a perfect record of played six won six! League Champions!

After gaining promotion as league winners the second half of the season has seen the team playing in Conference League D and, while the squad has been decimated by injuries, they head into their final game in a very respectable 4th position in the league.

While “big” clubs like Waterloo, Wigan & Kirkby Lonsdale have withdrawn their Colts from the leagues, despite injuries, TRUFC Senior Colts 2017/18 have ensured that they have fulfilled every single fixture this year and have represented themselves and TRUFC in a way that far exceeds their years and everyone at TRUFC is immensely proud of everything they have achieved through all the age groups and finally this year.

Coaches Tim Molloy, Brad Jones and Sam Cleaver have given a lot of time over the years to ensure the team received the coaching they deserved and it has paid dividends with trophy wins along the way culminating in the unbeaten League win this year! Thank you Lads!

Thank you to another amazing volunteer in Christine Wignall who has been the teams chief First Aider and looked after the lads through the years!

Thank you to the Parents, Family Members and Friends who have supported the team week in week out wherever they played and whatever the weather!

And….while thank you probably isn’t enough….the club would also like to thank Team Manager Janet Jones who has worked relentlessly to make sure these lads have turned out week in week out and has nurtured and helped them grow and develop in to a band of brothers and great representatives of TRUFC at every level they have played.

And finally the biggest thank you to the players;

Adam Holt, Alfie McAdam, Callum Davies, Connor Flynn, Daniel Cosgrove-Moore, Ed Slater, Elliot Hicks, Finlay Bamber, Gareth Leech, George Barnes, Harrison Johanson-Andersen, Harry Cruickshanks, Harry Jones, Jackson Chadwick, John Blanchard, Leon Wignall, Matthew Lovelady, Max Mealor, Nathan Col, Owen Armstrong, Richard Jones, Ross Kitcher, Ryan Dundavan, Ryan Woolfenden, Tom Abram, Tom Wignall, Zak Nelsen and Zander Kenny.
