We are delighted to announce some exciting changes to our Leadership team within our Senior Squad for the 2018-19 season.
Jamie Bantleman has been appointed as the 1st XV Captain, alongside Hugo Castle as Vice-Captain. Jamie takes over the captaincy from Tom Eckersley who has lead the team for two hugely successful seasons which saw the 1st XV reach the Semi Finals of RFU National Vase and win the Lancashire (North) league.
New 1st XV Captain Jamie Bantleman said: “To be announced as captain of this club is a great honour, taking over from Tom Eckersley will be a tough job because he has captained us through our best 2 seasons in the club’s history. However, with the help of him and others who’ve Captain Tarleton in the past I know I have what it takes to take us to the next level.
I feel as though we are all brothers here at Carr Lane and when we pull the shirt on we are all in it together, this is a campaign where we go hard for success, training and playing hard. I can’t wait for the season to get going”.
1st XV Vice Captain Hugo added: “After coming through the youth levels at the club I have always looked at playing in the 1st XV as being the pinnacle of being at our club so to be named as part of a strong leadership team for the coming season is a very proud moment for me.”
A restructure in the 2nd XV sees Tim Molloy take on the Role as Lead Coach following Ray Simpson and Brian Parsons stepping down from their roles after four years at the helm. Joe Bullen will continue to Captain the 2nd XV.
Talking about the new appointments Head Coach Steve Gough said: “I would like to take this opportunity thank Tom Eckersley for his fantastic leadership both on and off the pitch over the last two years. The senior leadership is looking very strong this year. We have decision makers in all positions and I’m delighted to welcome Jamie Bantleman as Captain and Hugo as Vice Captain. I am also looking forward to seeing the young talent coming through with 14 plus colts making the transition to senior Rugby. The future looks great!”
