We are pleased to announce that Elliot Burton will be the 1st XV Captain for the 19/20 Season!

Elliot has been at the club for 11 years and made his first team debut at Fly Half aged 17!

Regarding his appointment Elliot said “It’s an absolute honor to lead the club this year. To be given the trust of the lads, the coaching team and committee means a great deal to me, and it’s a great opportunity for me to give back to the club.”

Elliot who is supported in his role by a new leadership group with Vice Captains; Hugo Castle, Ben Cromack and Jack Eckersley went on to say. “We have a brilliant leadership group helping the coaching team. All of these guys are exceptional and dedicated members of the club on and off the field. Together we’re working on implementing our codes of conduct and taking this club in a positive direction”

Two games in to the new campaign, this season is going to be an important one for the 1st XV. After a period of ups and downs last season, consistency is the key for 19/20. Although the team are still waiting to get their first win, the performances in both games so far, against two very strong teams, have been excellent.

On the start to the season Elliot said “We’re off to a really positive start this season. The team and club has gone from strength to strength with each game. We have such a young and talented squad which is learning and growing together, the future is bright at Tarleton. The fact that I’m one of the more senior members at the age of 25 is brilliant and we are learning to use this on the field to our advantage. My goal is to keep this growth and positive trend going, work on our game plan, focus on us and our brand of rugby. We have the potential to finish in at least the top 5 and to be looking at promotion within the next 2 seasons.”

Congratulations Elliot and good luck to you and the lads for the rest of the season!
